Beaulieu Vineyard Clone 6 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon

Beaulieu Vineyard’s Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon, bottled separately at least since the mid-1990s, showcases a historic “Jackson” selection that BV identified during a 14-year clonal program with UC Davis. The 1996 release (Signet Collection/Reserve, Rutherford) earned 94 points from Wine Spectator and reflects the clone’s hallmark: small, loose clusters that produce concentrated, structured Cabernet with dark fruit and classic Rutherford dust character. Today BV still bottles a Reserve Clone 6, and the estate’s official notes describe it as “mountain fruit on the valley floor,” emphasizing density, muscular tannin, and cocoa‐powder-like texture.
