Haut-Bailly’s history began in the 1530s when the Goyanèche and Daitze families acquired prime vineyards, followed by notable ownership changes over the centuries. Thomas Barton’s business savvy popularized the estate’s wines in England and Ireland. Alcide Bellot des Minières elevated Haut-Bailly’s status with innovative viticulture, earning the title ‘King of Vintners’. Daniel and Jean Sanders revived its reputation in the mid-20th century, while Robert G. Wilmers, a Bordeaux enthusiast, ushered in modernization and continuity. Since his passing in 2017, his family and management team remain dedicated to his vision. Recent upgrades include a state-of-the-art winery completed in 2020, ensuring Haut-Bailly’s legacy of excellence continues.
