Domaine Georges & Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 2015
$625.00
In 1924, Georges Roumier, a farmer from the Morvan, married Geneviève Quanquin, a girl from Chambolle-Musigny. Her dowry of vineyards became the nucleus of Domaine Georges Roumier. Today the domaine includes 12 hectares of vines in 11 different appellations. When Christophe Roumier, at the age of 24, took over winemaking at his family’s domaine, the quality of the wines soared into the cult league with his exceptional talent. From the beginning, Christophe, who trained in Dijon University’s Faculty of Oenology, was considered an articulate young man who thought deeply about everything he did. He has made a considerable impact not only on the domaine’s standing, but also on other young winemakers in the region, among whom he is still much respected.
The youthful style of this Chambolle-Musigny village wine includes a delicate fragrance of red fruits and flowers and a soft texture. Bordered on the north by the village of Morey -Saint-Denis and on the south by Vougeot, the tiny village of Chambolle-Musigny became the Côte d’Or’s smallest AOC in 1882. The limestone soils of the region contribute to the wine’s silky, supple character.
