Domaine Michel Niellon Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2019

Michel Niellon, who started working with his father Marcel in the 1950s, has produced over 50 vintages of exceptional wines. The family began domaine-bottling in the 1960s, quickly establishing their 4-hectare estate as one of the best in Chassagne-Montrachet. Since 1991, Michel has collaborated with his son-in-law, Michel Coutoux, and more recently, his grandson Mathieu Bresson joined the winery. The estate now spans 7.5 hectares.

The vineyards are plowed for weed control without herbicides, and pest and mildew control follow lutte raisonnée practices. Niellon prefers to harvest early to maintain acidity, often being the first to pick in the village. Fermentations occur spontaneously in stainless steel tanks before the wine is moved to barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging, with 20-30% new oak depending on the cuvée. Niellon is renowned for producing wines that balance crisp minerality with rich, ripe fruit, reflecting the terroir of each vineyard.
