Produttori del Barbaresco’s 2020 Riserva Asili comes from the 2.28-hectare MGA Asili, a south to south-west–facing bowl of calcareous limestone streaked with sandy veins that sits slightly removed from the Tanaro’s breezes, these conditions that give Asili its poised intensity and a classic, slowly unfurling personality. Fermentation took place at about 30 °C with an extended 28-day maceration and full malolactic conversion, followed by 30 months in large 25–50 hl oak casks and a further nine months in bottle. The wine was bottled in May 2024, with total production of 13,333 bottles using fruit from member growers Conti, Giordano, Lembo, and Viglino. The estate characterizes the vintage as ripe, red-fruit driven, and long-finishing, while the broader 2020 season in Barbaresco is described as “extremely good,” producing complete, complex wines with medium-to-long aging potential.
